Chhattisgarh Congress plans 'Gau Satyagraha', to tether stray cattle in Collectorates

Chhattisgarh

The Chhattisgarh Congress is intensifying its efforts to challenge the state government, focusing on the issue of stray cattle. The party plans to organize "Gau Satyagraha" in all districts and blocks across the state.

During these protests, Congress workers will tether stray cattle at SDM and Collectorate offices to highlight the problem. The party alleges that the increasing deaths of cows and accidents caused by roaming cattle on roads, along with the damage to crops, have become a significant issue throughout the state. They claim that since the BJP government came to power in Chhattisgarh, the condition of cattle has deteriorated. The Congress accuses the BJP of shutting down the "Godhan Nyay Yojana," a scheme previously run by the Congress government, leaving the cattle to die on the streets.

Farmers are troubled by the open grazing, and road accidents have increased, affecting both cattle and the general public.

Congress Communications Department head Sushil Anand Shukla stated that road accidents caused by stray cattle are leading to fatalities, not just among the cattle but also causing significant harm to the public. He mentioned that the "Rokacheka" program from earlier government has also been discontinued, worsening the situation as cattle stray onto roads and damage crops. To protest against the government's inaction, Congress will take to the streets and stage demonstrations through this "Gau Satyagraha."
