Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Launches 7 Housing Projects Under 'Atal Vihar Yojana' to Provide Affordable Homes for All

Chhattisgarh

In a significant move to make the dream of "Housing for All" a reality, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, inaugurated 7 residential projects of the Chhattisgarh Housing Board under the 'Atal Vihar Yojana' on December 9, 2024. The projects aim to provide affordable homes to those in need, particularly urban residents, by offering subsidized housing options.

Affordable Housing for the Needy

Speaking at the launch, Chief Minister Sai highlighted the government's commitment to ensuring affordable housing for low-income families in urban areas. "As we near the completion of our first year in office, we are launching the Atal Vihar Yojana to provide affordable homes, especially for those living in urban centers," said Sai.

The 7 residential projects, worth approximately Rs. 300 crore, will be built across various locations, including Bhurkoni-Raipur, Patharra-Rajim, Khartuli-Dhamtari, Sihad-Dhamtari, Pulgaon-Durg, Gurur-Balod, and Kokadapara-Bijapur. These projects will include 1650 homes, categorized under EWS (Economically Weaker Section), LIG (Lower Income Group), and MIG (Middle Income Group). The homes will be available through online registration at the official website of the Housing Board (www.cghb.gov.in).

Subsidies and Land Allocation

In a bid to make homes more affordable, the state government is providing financial subsidies. EWS category homes will receive a subsidy of Rs. 80,000, while LIG homes will benefit from a Rs. 40,000 subsidy. Additionally, the government is offering land to the Housing Board at a nominal rate of one rupee per square foot to reduce the cost of the project.

Chief Minister Sai also emphasized the inspiration drawn from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana," which seeks to ensure every urban poor family owns a home. Following this vision, the state government is committed to constructing 50,000 homes under the Atal Vihar Yojana across various cities and rural blocks.

Quality Construction and Expanding Reach

Finance and Housing Minister, Shri O.P. Choudhary, assured that the homes built under the Atal Vihar Yojana would meet high standards of quality. The scheme will not only cover Raipur but also reach far-flung areas like Bijapur. "This initiative will soon be extended to all districts," he added.

In addition, the government recently offered a 100% waiver on diversion fees and penalties for regularizing free-hold buildings in the state, benefiting around 80,000 Housing Board beneficiaries.

Key Government Figures Attend Launch

Along with the Chief Minister, senior officials present at the launch included Chief Secretary, Shri P. Dayanand, Secretary of Housing and Environment, Shri Ankit Anand, Secretary of Urban Administration and Development, Shri Basav Raju S., and Chhattisgarh Housing Board Commissioner, Shri Kundan Kumar.

This launch marks an important step in making affordable housing accessible to the people of Chhattisgarh, providing them with better living conditions and contributing to the state's urban development.
