March 2025 Deadline: Construction of the new homes is targeted for completion by March 2025.

Government Statements:

Chief Minister Sai expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal for their support. "This approval is a step closer to realizing the dream of permanent housing for every poor family in the state," Sai said. He emphasized that both rural and urban housing projects are being fast-tracked, ensuring the benefits reach the most vulnerable citizens. Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Urban Administration and Development Arun Saw also celebrated the announcement, reiterating the state government’s commitment to ensuring that every eligible family benefits from the scheme.

Implementation Strategy:

Beneficiary Identification: A rapid assessment survey (RAS) is underway to identify eligible beneficiaries. The survey, which began on November 15, is registering details on the Unified Web Portal of the Government of India.

Collaboration with Revenue Departments: Urban administration officials are coordinating with revenue offices to expedite the issuance of caste and income certificates for beneficiaries.

Housing Program Overview:

Under PMAY-Urban 2.0, launched on September 1, 2024, the government aims to provide affordable housing to economically weaker sections (EWS), low-income groups (LIG), and middle-income groups (MIG) in urban areas. Financial assistance will be offered for the construction, purchase, or rental of homes.

Progress and Future Goals:

The approval of these homes follows Chhattisgarh’s strong performance in the first phase of PMAY. Urban local bodies have been directed to maximize the scheme’s outreach and ensure transparency in implementation. The government’s latest effort underscores its commitment to inclusive development and housing for all, with the promise of improved living conditions for thousands of families across the state.
