Chennai to Experience 5-Hour Power Outage on December 7 for Maintenance Work

Residents in several parts of Chennai will face a scheduled power outage on Saturday, December 9, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) has announced that the disruption is necessary to carry out essential maintenance work on the city's power infrastructure.

While the outage is expected to last for five hours, TANGEDCO has stated that power may be restored earlier if the maintenance work is completed ahead of schedule. Affected residents are advised to plan their activities accordingly to avoid any inconvenience during the outage.

Areas Affected by the Power Cut

The power disruption will impact several areas, particularly in and around the Broadway region, including:

Mooker Nallamuthu Street

Post Office Street

Burma Bazaar

Sathiya Nagar and Sathiya Nagar B Block

Chennai Corporation Park

Second Lane Beach

Port Trust

The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO), which was formed following the restructuring of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) in 2010, is responsible for the generation and distribution of electricity in the state. Along with other related entities, such as Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Limited (TANTRANSCO), TANGEDCO works to ensure reliable and efficient power supply across Tamil Nadu.
