CGPSC recruitment scandal, now a woman officer stands arrested

CGPSC

In the ongoing CGPSC recruitment scandal, the CBI has arrested Arti Vasnik, a former exam controller at the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC).

Reports suggest that the controversy centers around the selection of candidates between 2019 and 2022 for CGPSC exams. The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) and Arjunda police have registered a case accusing irregularities and corruption.

The CGPSC had conducted exams in 2020 for 175 positions and in 2021 for 171 positions, which have sparked widespread dispute. Allegations claim that the former chairman, Sonwani, helped secure jobs for his relatives, as well as the children of Congress leaders and bureaucrats.

Recently, the CBI raided Arti Vasnik’s residence in Rajnandgaon. She is now likely to be interrogated under CBI custody. Sources suggest that the agency has gathered critical evidence against Vasnik.

Prior to this, the CBI had arrested the former CGPSC Chairman, Taman Sonwani, and steel magnate, Shravan Goyal, from Chhattisgarh. Both are currently in jail. Now, suspicion has also fallen on Arti Vasnik, with the CBI believing that she may be involved in the scam.
