In Nelamangala of Karnataka, people queued up to receive their bottle of alcohol

In Nelamangala of Karnataka, people queued up to receive their bottle of alcohol at the party organised by Chikkaballapur BJP MP K Sudhakar in celebration of his Lok Sabha win from the constituency

Bengaluru Rural SP CK Baba says, "The excise department gave permission and the police were instructed to take care of the arrangements. There is no fault of the police department in this, it is the responsibility of the excise department for providing the permission."

Chikkaballapur's BJP MP K Sudhakar held a gathering to celebrate his victory in the Lok Sabha elections for the Chikkballapur constituency. However, controversy marred the event as reports surfaced of open distribution of alcohol by the organizers.

Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes as attendees clamoured for free liquor, leading to difficulties in crowd management. Organizers, including Nelamangala BJP president Jagadish Chowdhary, reportedly sponsored the event, which featured non-vegetarian food, beer, and various hard liquors.

Prior to the event, MP K Sudhakar had notified the police department in writing about the event's alcohol provisions, seeking security arrangements. However, Bengaluru Rural SP CK Baba had instructed against serving alcohol, warning of legal consequences for violations.

Amidst criticism from Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundurao on social media, Sudhakar distanced himself from the liquor distribution, claiming ignorance and disapproval.

On liquor distribution in the thanksgiving event after BJP MP Dr K Sudhakar's win, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar says, "It is the culture of the BJP. I want BJP National President JP Nadda to reply to it..."
