Bomb Threats Sent to Two Delhi Schools: Students Sent Home, Police Investigate
Two prominent Delhi schools—Delhi Public School (DPS) RK Puram and GD Goenka Public School, Paschim Vihar—received bomb threats via e-mail on Monday morning, prompting immediate action by authorities.
Details of the Incident
The Delhi Fire Department was alerted at approximately 7:00 AM. In response to the threats, both schools swiftly evacuated their premises and sent students home as a precautionary measure. The police were informed, and extensive checks are currently underway at both locations.
Police Findings So Far
According to the Delhi Police, initial searches at the schools have not uncovered any suspicious items. Investigations continue to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Background of Recent Threats
This incident follows a series of bomb threats targeting educational institutions in India. Over a month ago, several schools affiliated with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), including two in Delhi and one in Hyderabad, received similar e-mail threats.
The first of these threats was reported on the night of October 21 at a CRPF school in Tamil Nadu. Although the threats caused widespread concern, they were ultimately determined to be hoaxes.
However, these incidents are not without precedent. On October 20, a powerful blast occurred near a CRPF school in Delhi’s Rohini area, damaging nearby properties and creating panic. While no casualties were reported, the event heightened concerns about school safety.
Current Status
Authorities are treating the latest threats with utmost seriousness. While nothing suspicious has been found so far, the investigation remains active, and security has been tightened at both schools. This incident underscores the growing challenges faced by educational institutions in ensuring the safety of their students amidst such threats.
