Bomb threats issued to two upscale shopping malls, police initiates search

On Saturday, bomb threat emails triggered immediate security responses at DLF Mall of India in Noida and Ambience Mall in Gurugram

Bomb threat

On Saturday, two malls in the Delhi-NCR region, DLF Mall of India in Noida and Ambience Mall in Gurugram, received bomb threat emails, prompting immediate action from authorities. The emails, sent to both malls, led to heightened security measures and extensive search operations.

In Gurugram, the district administration received a bomb threat email targeting all malls around 10 am. Chief Civil Defence Officer Mohit Sharma confirmed that the police, bomb squad, and civil defense teams were mobilized for a search operation at Ambience Mall. "The district administration initiated a thorough search following the email, with police, dog squad, and civil defense teams involved," Sharma told news agency ANI.

At Ambience Mall, the email claimed that bombs had been planted to harm everyone in the building. However, management at DLF Mall of India in Noida reported that the email was part of a security drill rather than a genuine threat. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Manish Mishra confirmed that the Noida mall conducted a security drill starting at 11 am, involving an evacuation and a two-and-a-half-hour search. Normal operations resumed by 1 pm, with no actual bomb threat discovered.

In summary, while Gurugram's Ambience Mall was actively searched following the threat, the situation at DLF Mall of India was determined to be a precautionary measure rather than a real threat.
