Bollywood's horror-comedy 'Stree 2' continues to rule box office, heads for ₹600 crore club
Actors Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's horror-comedy film "Stree 2" continues to make waves at the box office even a month after its release. The film has amassed over ₹580 crore nationwide and has surpassed the earnings of earlier movie "Animal". The next milestone for "Stree 2" is the ₹600 crore club.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, "Stree 2" is still performing strongly in its fifth week. It earned ₹3.60 crore on Friday, ₹5.55 crore on Saturday, and ₹6.85 crore on Sunday. On the fifth Monday, it generated ₹3.17 crore, bringing its total domestic earnings to ₹583.35 crore. The film has now broken the record previously held by Ranbir Kapoor's "Animal", which grossed ₹556.36 crore nationwide. The new target for "Stree 2" is Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan", which made ₹643.87 crore in 2023 and remains the highest-grossing Hindi film in India.
Globally, "Stree 2" has surpassed ₹800 crore, with a reported worldwide gross of ₹823.02 crore. If it maintains this momentum, it could join the ₹1000 crore club. Released on August 15, "Stree 2" is directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Niren Bhatt. It is the sequel to the blockbuster "Stree" (2018) and features notable performances by Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi, and Abhishek Banerjee.
