Ahead of the five state elections, the Election Commission of India has appointed Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao as national icon. A formal ceremony for this induction is to take place on Thursday itself.
The move is being seen as attempt by the Election Commission of India to motivate the voters for huge turn up at the polling booths.
Rajkummar Rao, it need be mentioned, had won accolades for his role in film ”Newton” where he is seen as an official tasked with conducting polling in naxal affected areas of Chhattisgarh.
The state of Chhattisgarh is also going to vote in the upcoming five state election but in two phases, Nov 7 and 17.
