Blast at prayer meet in Kochi, one killed, over 25 injured, authorities yet to reveal details

At least one person is confirmed killed and over 20 injured in blast at convention centre during prayer meet in Kochi of Kerala.

 

According to a local witness, the series of explosions occurred inside the convention hall of Christian group in Kochi at approximately 9:45 am, leaving one dead, and injuring another 25 people.

Kerala authorities have said that blast site has been cordoned off and administration has been pressed into service of the people.

There are unconfirmed reports to suggest that three blasts have been reported while there was a gathering of around 2000 people. At least five to seven injured are said to be in critical condition.

Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister P Vijayan has termed the blast as ”very unfortunate incident”.

“We are collecting details regarding the incident. All top officials are there in Ernakulam. DGP is moving to the spot. We are taking it very seriously. I have spoken to DGP. We need to get more details after the investigation”, he added.
