BJP Leader Falls Prey to Fraudulent Bride in Bihar, Alleges Loss of ₹35 Lakh

BJP

Kishanganj, Bihar: A bizarre case of deception has come to light where BJP leader and former youth wing general secretary, Rakesh Gupta, alleged that his wife, Ishika, fled with ₹35 lakh in cash and jewelry shortly after their marriage. The incident has sparked a controversy in Kishanganj, with the BJP leader filing a police complaint seeking justice.

The Marriage and the Allegations

Rakesh Gupta claims he married Ishika earlier this year after a year-long acquaintance. The couple first solemnized their union in court, followed by traditional rituals at a temple. A grand wedding feast was hosted for friends, family, and notable figures of the town. However, cracks in the marriage appeared soon after.

Ishika frequently returned to her parental home, citing trivial reasons. Rakesh alleges that Ishika’s family insisted on building a concrete house before allowing her to stay with him permanently. In the meantime, he provided financial support to Ishika’s family, including money for land purchases.

On December 3, Rakesh reportedly handed over ₹5 lakh to Ishika, which she claimed was meant for a business associate. Instead, Ishika disappeared, and neither she nor her family provided any information about her whereabouts.

A Trail of Deception

Rakesh later learned that Ishika had married another man in West Bengal, marking her third marriage. Allegedly, she had a history of deceiving men, with one previous victim being swindled for nine months under the guise of marriage. A viral photo on social media shows Ishika marrying another man, further substantiating Rakesh’s claims.

Police Investigation Underway

Rakesh filed an official complaint at the Town Police Station and later approached the Kishanganj SP on December 10. The police have initiated an investigation into the allegations and are looking into Ishika’s family’s involvement.

Family's Denial

Ishika’s mother has dismissed the allegations, claiming that only an engagement—not a marriage—occurred between Rakesh and Ishika. She also denied receiving any money from Rakesh. According to her, Ishika left for Siliguri on December 6 for a medical consultation and has been missing since then. The family claims to be actively searching for her.

The case has garnered significant attention due to the involvement of a political figure and the peculiar circumstances of the alleged fraud.

While Rakesh has accused Ishika and her family of orchestrating the scam, her family’s counterclaims have added a layer of complexity.

The police are investigating the matter, with further revelations expected in the coming days. This incident has left the local community shocked and serves as a cautionary tale about trust and deception in personal relationships.
