Passengers evacuated from Alliance Air flight 91763 at Bilaspur Airport following a bomb threat, later confirmed as a false alarm. Authorities conducted a thorough security check before resuming the flight to Delhi.

Bomb Scare

A bomb threat on a flight traveling from Kolkata to Bilaspur and onward to Delhi caused panic among passengers on Thursday. The flight, identified as number 91763, was en route to Bilaspur when the alarm was raised. Upon receiving the bomb threat, immediate action was taken by airport authorities.

The threat was reported by the Alliance Air station manager, prompting the formation of a Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC). In accordance with airport standard operating procedures (SOP), all relevant authorities were alerted. As soon as the flight landed at Bilaspur airport around 3:30 PM, the plane was moved to an isolation bay. All passengers were promptly evacuated and taken to the terminal building. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) conducted a thorough search of the aircraft and found no explosive device. Once the plane was cleared, it was allowed to continue its journey to Delhi.

Due to the delay caused by the security checks, the flight skipped its scheduled stop in Prayagraj and proceeded directly to Delhi, as Prayagraj airport does not allow landings after sunset.

Upon receiving the bomb threat, local police, administration, fire brigade, and other relevant teams immediately rushed to the scene. There was a tense atmosphere among the passengers during the investigation. Among the officials present at the airport were Bilaspur Collector Avnish Sharan, SP Rajneesh Singh, Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar, and Bilha SDM Bajrang Verma, who all ensured the situation was handled according to security protocols.

It is worth noting that earlier, a minor from Rajnandgaon had sent an email falsely claiming there was a bomb on an Air India flight to New York, resulting in his arrest by Mumbai police. Similarly, multiple airlines, including Indigo, Air India, Vistara, and Akasa, have received bomb threats in recent times. On Thursday alone, around 85 flights across the country were threatened, including the Alliance Air flight to Bilaspur.

Bilaspur Collector Avnish Sharan confirmed that the security teams, along with police and administrative officers, thoroughly investigated the situation. The bomb threat turned out to be a false alarm, and after ensuring everything was safe, the flight was allowed to resume its journey.
