Big news for government employees: October salaries will be disbursed before Diwali
Good news for government employees in Madhya Pradesh! The incumbent Mohan Yadav government is set to advance the October salaries for approximately 1.1 million officials and employees in light of the upcoming festivals.
The month of October is filled with various festivals, including Diwali, which falls on October 31. Typically, salaries for employees and officials are disbursed on November 1 or 2. However, this year, the government plans to issue salaries four to five days earlier, specifically on October 28 and 29. The finance department will propose this change to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav to ensure that employees can celebrate Diwali comfortably.
The finance department's proposal will be submitted to the Chief Minister for final approval through Chief Secretary Anurag Jain. Once the government gives the green light, October salaries will be paid in advance to officials and employees. Additionally, contract and outsourcing workers have also requested the government for early payments by October 25.
It's noteworthy that the state has around 700,000 regular officials and employees, along with approximately 400,000 pensioners. The monthly disbursement for salaries, pensions, and allowances amounts to roughly ₹3,500 crores. Treasury bills for salaries are typically submitted on the 28th or 29th of each month, followed by payments made on the 1st or 2nd.
