BIG BREAKING, Citing 'censorship order', tech giant X suspends operations in Brazil

"Social media platform X announces immediate shutdown of operations in Brazil due to alleged censorship by judge Alexandre de Moraes."

Social media platform X announced on Saturday that it is shutting down its operations in Brazil "effective immediately" due to what it described as "censorship orders" issued by Brazilian judge Alexandre de Moraes. According to X, the judge secretly threatened to arrest one of its legal representatives in the country if the platform failed to comply with orders to remove certain content. Despite the closure, X confirmed that its service will remain accessible to Brazilian users.

This decision follows ongoing tensions between X and de Moraes, who had previously ordered the platform to block certain accounts as part of an investigation into "digital militias" accused of spreading misinformation and hate speech during former President Jair Bolsonaro's administration. Earlier this year, X’s representatives initially resisted de Moraes' rulings, with Elon Musk, the platform's owner, calling the judge's actions "unconstitutional." However, the company later assured Brazil's Supreme Court that it would comply with the legal orders, attributing any lapses to "operational faults."

While X is removing its remaining staff in Brazil, it remains unclear how the platform will continue to provide services while suspending its operations in the country.
