Bhavani Revanna anticipatory bail case, top court rejects Karnataka SIT plea
It need be recalled that Bhavani Revanna is accused of kidnapping a woman who allegedly suffered sexual assault at the hands of her son, Prajwal Revanna, a suspended leader of the Janata Dal (Secular). The kidnapping case is connected to the sexual abuse allegations against Prajwal Revanna. This case is titled [State of Karnataka v. Bhavani Revanna].
A Bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan recently rejected the Karnataka government's appeal against a Karnataka High Court ruling that granted pre-arrest bail to Bhavani Revanna. The Supreme Court had issued a notice regarding the Karnataka government's plea in July.
The State subsequently challenged this decision in the Supreme Court. The Bench had previously urged all parties involved not to politicize the issue.
Bhavani Revanna is accused of participating in the kidnapping of a woman who was sexually assaulted by Prajwal Revanna, allegedly to stop her from filing a complaint.
Currently, Prajwal Revanna is in custody due to allegations that he sexually assaulted multiple women and recorded the incidents.
