The Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested a Bangladeshi woman on Saturday for her alleged involvement in human trafficking in West Tripura's Charipara area. The police identified the accused as Khadija Begum, 36, a resident of Brahmanbaria district in Bangladesh.

According to the police, "Khadija Begum was arrested by the GRP from the Charipara area in a joint operation with BSF Unit 42 and Amtali Police Station on Saturday afternoon." Acting on a tip-off, the GRP detained her. Khadija Begum will be presented before the Agartala court for further legal proceedings. Her arrest follows a joint operation by local law enforcement and the BSF on Thursday, during which 10 individuals, including 8 Bangladeshis, were apprehended based on information about suspected illegal activities at Agartala Railway Station.

The operation was conducted amid reports of cross-border human trafficking. The individuals were arrested while preparing to board a train, allegedly for illegal movement across the India-Bangladesh border. All ten arrested individuals were held in police custody for further questioning. Authorities have indicated they might coordinate with Bangladeshi officials to delve deeper into the case and potentially repatriate the Bangladeshi nationals.

Notably, there have been multiple arrests of Bangladeshi nationals at Agartala Railway Station. On July 27, the GRP arrested 23 Bangladeshi nationals at the station. Earlier, on July 1, 11 Bangladeshi nationals, including 5 children and six women, were apprehended for illegally entering India without documents.
