Bangladesh Hindus under attack, Congress leader writes to Prime Minister Modi, urging intervention

Bangladesh

Vikas Upadhyay, Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, Lok Sabha candidate, and former legislator, has criticized the Indian government for its lack of action in response to the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. Upadhyay stated that Hindus are facing life-threatening attacks, looting, and damage to their religious sites, but no concrete measures have been taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi or the government to ensure their safety.

He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of using Hindus merely for political gain while failing to take substantial actions to protect their interests. He highlighted that the ongoing violence in Bangladesh is being watched globally, yet India has not made any arrangements to ensure the safety of the thousands of Hindus trapped there. Upadhyay has urged the central government to take urgent steps at a war footing to safeguard these individuals.

He also criticized BJP leaders and workers for only expressing their opinions on social media rather than actively working to address the issue. Upadhyay noted that while BJP members are inciting people with provocative speeches, they are not pressuring their leadership to take concrete actions for Hindu protection in Bangladesh. In light of these concerns, Upadhyay has sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding immediate intervention.
