Bangladesh crisis, non-essential staff, families from Indian diplomatic missions return to India
Amid Bangladesh crisis, volunteers, non-essential staff, families from Indian diplomatic missions in the country have returned to India; Indian High commission in Dhaka remains functional, team of senior Indian diplomats remain in the country.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had stated that the government maintains ongoing and close communication with the Indian community in Bangladesh through its diplomatic missions. "Throughout the violence in Bangladesh in July, we consistently advised restraint and encouraged resolving the situation through dialogue. We also reached out to various political forces in this regard," Jaishankar informed Parliament.
He emphasized, "We are in constant contact with the Indian community in Bangladesh via our diplomatic missions."
Jaishankar also noted, "We expect the host government to ensure the necessary security for our High Commissions in Chittagong, Rajshahi, Sylhet, and Khulna. Over the past 24 hours, we have been in regular communication with the authorities in Dhaka as well."
