Attempts of booth capturing, violence in polling booth, despite heavy security

Despite stringent security arrangements, violence marred voting for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections in inner Manipur constituency. Shooting by miscreants broke out at a polling station at Thamanpokpi under Moirang Assembly segment.

Voting is underway amidst tensions and allegations of irregularities in the Inner Manipur constituency on Friday. In this video, Congress candidate Bimol Akoijam is seen having an argument with police personnel on duty in Imphal East, alleging that Congress polling agents were threatened.

Police have dominated the area and voters have not left the booth. More voters have come out post the firing. Locals say miscreants came and tried capturing the booth.
