Attempt to defraud Minister, police nabs accused, uttering wrong name exposed him

Minister

A shocking attempt to defraud Madhya Pradesh's Forest and Environment Minister, Ramniwas Rawat, has come to light. The accused demanded money from Rawat by impersonating the personal secretary of the BJP's organizational general secretary.

The crime branch swung into action and has arrested the accused. Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra confirmed that a complaint was lodged by Rawat's office stating that a man was demanding money while pretending to be the personal secretary of the BJP's organizational general secretary.

According to Minister Rawat, an unknown person called his number, introduced himself as the personal secretary of the BJP's organizational general secretary, and claimed that he was sending a team to manage and promote his campaign for the Vijaypur Assembly by-election. In exchange, the caller demanded 5 lakh rupees.

Commissioner Mishra explained that the caller repeatedly demanded money from Rawat but was exposed when he incorrectly named the organizational general secretary as D. Santosh, while the correct name is B.L. Santosh.

This discrepancy raised suspicion for Rawat, who then stalled the caller. After verifying the details, Rawat discovered that no such call had been made from the national organizational secretary. Subsequently, he filed a police complaint. Under Commissioner Mishra's direction, the Bhopal Crime Branch registered an FIR under section 319(2) of the IPC and section 66(C) of the IT Act. During the investigation, the crime branch arrested the accused from Indore and is currently interrogating him.
