Arvind Kejriwal, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Chief Minister of Delhi, is preparing to vacate his official residence within the next 1-2 days. He has secured a new home located near his New Delhi assembly constituency, facilitating his political responsibilities.

Kejriwal's decision to move was confirmed by party sources, indicating that he aims for convenience and closeness to his constituency. The AAP has sought suitable accommodations for him, which would allow him to effectively carry out his duties and travel easily within the city. Previously, various housing options were offered to Kejriwal, including residences in Raksha Colony, Pitampura, and Greater Kailash. However, he preferred a location that would enhance his connection with constituents.

Additionally, the AAP has requested the central government to allocate a government residence to Kejriwal, considering his stature as the party leader. Before becoming Chief Minister in 2013, Kejriwal lived in Kaushambi, Ghaziabad.

As per a party statement, Kejriwal is set to relocate to an MP bungalow in Lutyens’ Delhi on Friday, October 4. Following his resignation from the chief minister's post last month, he and his family will move to the official residence of Punjab Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal, situated on Ferozeshah Road near Mandi House and close to the AAP headquarters on Ravi Shankar Shukla Lane.

Kejriwal explained that he stepped down to earn a "certificate of honesty" from the residents of Delhi, emphasizing that he intends to regain their trust and return to the chief minister's role. His resignation comes ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February next year.

Kejriwal has been representing the New Delhi constituency as an MLA since 2013, having defeated former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, and he successfully retained his seat in both the 2015 and 2020 elections. During his tenure, he initially resided in a house on Tilak Lane in central Delhi before moving to 6 Flagstaff Road in Civil Lines, north Delhi, after AAP's significant victory in the 2015 Assembly elections.
