Two young army officers and their female companions were violently attacked by armed miscreants near Jam Gate in Indore district, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday evening. The attackers, who initially seemed intent on robbery, brutally assaulted the officers and gang-raped one of the women. Two of the accused, including a person with a criminal record, have been arrested by the police.

The officers, trainees at Mhow Army College, had gone out with their friends near the Chhoti Jam firing range. They were suddenly surrounded by eight armed men carrying pistols, knives, and sticks. The attackers beat the officers and the women, robbing them of their valuables.

The situation worsened when the attackers took one officer and a woman hostage, demanding a ransom of ₹10 lakh from the other officer and woman. In a panic, the officer returned to his unit and informed his commanding officer, who promptly contacted the police. Police and military personnel quickly arrived at the scene, but the attackers fled before they could be apprehended.

The victims were taken to Mhow Civil Hospital for medical examinations early in the morning. Both officers sustained injuries, and a medical examination confirmed that one of the women had been raped, according to a statement by Lokendra Singh Hirore, the officer in charge of the Badgonda police station.

Indore Rural SP Hitika Vasal confirmed that a case has been filed under sections related to robbery, dacoity, rape, and the Arms Act. A search operation is underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
