Anti terror ops in Jammu and Kashmir, Army Captain killed in Doda

Anti terror

A captain from the 48 Rashtriya Rifles was killed during an ongoing operation in Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir. Defence officials have confirmed the casualty and stated that the operation is still ongoing. On Wednesday, an army officer was injured during an encounter in the Assar region of Doda district while security forces were conducting a search operation in the area, known for sporadic terrorist activities.

The encounter started in a densely forested area during a cordon and search operation (CASO) aimed at locating foreign terrorists believed to be hiding in the Shivgarh-Assar belt. Officials reported recovering four bloodstained rucksacks and M-4 carbines from the site of the encounter. The terrorists are reportedly taking refuge in a riverine area in Assar.

The operation began after a brief exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists near Patnitop in the neighboring Udhampur district. Security forces made contact with the terrorists around 6 pm on Tuesday, and the engagement continued intermittently, leading to the establishment of a cordon overnight.

Search efforts resumed at daylight, with renewed firing reported around 7:30 am today as operations continued in the area.
