A major train accident was narrowly averted in Samastipur when the Bihar Sampark Kranti Express, traveling from Darbhanga to New Delhi, suddenly split into two parts. The train’s coaches detached from the engine near the Khudiram Bose Pusa Railway Station on the Samastipur-Muzaffarpur rail section.

Railway officials quickly arrived at the scene to reattach the coaches to the engine. Fortunately, there have been no reports of any injuries.

The incident occurred with train number 12565 Bihar Sampark Kranti Express on Monday. As soon as the train split, officials from the Sonpur division rushed to the site. The train came to a halt near Pusa Station, and local villagers gathered at the scene in large numbers. An official from the Sonpur rail division stated that the accident happened due to a coupling failure, which connects the engine to the coaches. The train has since resumed its journey to Delhi.

The sudden detachment of the train's coaches caused panic among the passengers, leading to a chaotic situation in the compartments. Train staff attempted to calm the passengers. It was reported that the train driver was initially unaware that some coaches had separated and remained behind. The incident was discovered only after the train had traveled some distance, prompting the application of emergency brakes to stop the train.
