Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Chhattisgarh from December 13 to 16 for a significant three-day tour. During his visit, Shah will review the state's law and order situation and interact with surrendered Naxals, local residents, and intellectuals. This visit underscores the government’s commitment to tackling security challenges and fostering development in the region.
Meeting with CM Vishnu Deo Sai
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai recently met Amit Shah in New Delhi to discuss the state’s progress in anti-Naxal operations. Sai highlighted that districts like Bastar and Kondagaon, once epicenters of Naxal activities, have been declared Naxal-free. He also emphasized ongoing campaigns to eradicate remaining threats in other areas.
Key Highlights of Shah's Itinerary
Security Review in Raipur: Shah will preside over a high-level security review meeting in Raipur to assess the region's security framework. President's Police Colors Award: He will present the prestigious
President's Police Colors Award to Chhattisgarh Police, recognizing their efforts in maintaining law and order.
Jagdalpur Visit: Shah will travel to Jagdalpur, where he plans to engage with surrendered Naxals, local residents, and intellectuals. Additionally, he will pay tribute to martyrs and meet families affected by left-wing extremism.
Bastar Olympic Closing Ceremony: Shah will participate in the closing ceremony of the Bastar Olympics, an initiative aimed at integrating local youth through sports activities.
Focus on Rehabilitation and Development
During his meeting, CM Sai briefed Shah on the state's dual approach: a robust security framework combined with developmental initiatives such as roads, schools, healthcare, and employment opportunities. This strategy has significantly gained the trust of local communities, contributing to the success of anti-Naxal operations.
A Strategic Move Against Naxalism
Shah's decision to spend a night in Jagdalpur, a former Naxal stronghold, signals a strong message of confidence in the government’s efforts to combat left-wing extremism. This step is part of a broader strategy to completely eradicate Naxalism in Chhattisgarh by March 2025.
Chief Minister’s Commitment
CM Sai reiterated his government’s commitment to addressing security challenges and fostering peace in the Bastar region. He expressed pride in the security forces' consistent efforts and affirmed ongoing operations in other Naxal-affected districts to ensure a peaceful and developed state. Shah's visit, coupled with his interactions and recognition of local achievements, marks a significant chapter in Chhattisgarh’s journey towards peace, security, and development.
