Amit Shah to visit Chhattisgarh, to bolster anti-naxal ops, fine tune strategy
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will embark on a three-day visit to Chhattisgarh from August 23 to 25, focusing on high-level discussions regarding anti-Naxal operations and strategies in Maoist-affected regions.
During his visit, Shah will engage in meetings with police and paramilitary force heads, as well as key departmental officials, to review progress and refine strategies. The discussion is most likely to be around a comprehensive plan aimed at completely eliminating the Naxalite movement. The state government has been facing a major challenge, as Naxalites often carry out attacks in Chhattisgarh and then escape to neighboring states like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This cross-border issue has made it difficult to fully control Naxalite activities.
The Chhattisgarh government has been running a special campaign to combat Naxalism, which has led to the surrender of nearly 1,200 Naxalites under the incumbent Vishnu Deo led state government. Frequent encounters between armed forces and Naxalites have been taking place as part of this effort.
Amit Shah, while in Chhattisgarh, is also expected to meet with party leaders in Raipur before returning on the evening of the 25th. Shah's visit underscores the BJP's commitment to addressing security challenges while also gearing up for the upcoming state elections, where the party is aiming to strengthen its membership base through a new campaign.
