Amit Shah in Raipur, to hold crucial review of anti-Naxal ops
In Chhattisgarh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will preside over several meetings today focused on anti-Naxal operations. The BJP government at both the central and state levels has declared its commitment to eradicating Naxalism from Chhattisgarh, and now the party is advancing its strategy. To implement this plan, the Union Home Minister has arrived in Chhattisgarh for a three-day visit. Police chiefs from Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana, and West Bengal are expected to participate in these meetings, along with officers from paramilitary forces.
The discussions will review anti-Naxal operations and development activities in Naxal-affected areas. On August 25, Shah will also hold a meeting of the Cooperation Department, marking the conclusion of his Chhattisgarh tour. He may also review the implementation of directives given in previous meetings. During the 2023 Assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Shah announced that within three years of the BJP government coming to power, the state would be freed from Naxalism. Following the formation of the BJP government in the state, continuous operations have been conducted against Naxalites. So far this year, security forces have killed 142 Naxalites in various encounters across the state.
