Speaking in Mumbai, on the third edition of the Global Maritime Indian Summit 2023, India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reiterated, “He (PM Modi) mentioned how the Indian-Middle-East-Europe economic corridor is this vision of India. We are looking at reaching Europe and Central Asian republics through maritime plus land routes and therefore cutting down on logistics costs…”.
Interesting that she mentioned this corridor amid the raging war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. It need be mentioned that corridor was announced back in the G 20 summit meet and was meant to pass through UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Israel to Greece in Europe.
Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu had, in his recent United Nations speech, too had pointed out that this is visionary project that would involve betterment of billions of lives.
