Amid massive protests, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigns, leaves for 'safer place'
More trouble in India's neighbour as Bangladesh stares at uncertainty. Amid reports that Bangladesh Army chief might address the media later in the day,speculation has picked up that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been asked to step down from the post.
According to some reports, she may have handed her resignation and left the country for Finland. It is now clear that she is not acceptable in any form in the government to the protesting masses who have finally scared the establishment in the South Asian nation.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina departed from Bangabhaban at around 2:30pm on Monday on a military helicopter, accompanied by her younger sister, Sheikh Rehana for a "safer place.": Bangladesh media reports.
It is not clear if the opposition parties would form an alternative government till election happens or military takes over for now.
