As the air pollution continues to be a worry in Delhi-NCR region, the Supreme Court asks Punjab government to stop the stubble burning.
The top court observed that there can’t be a political battle all the time. “We want it (stubble burning) stopped. We don’t know how you do it, it’s your job. But it must be stopped. Something has to be done immediately,” says the top court to state of Punjab.
The Supreme Court was hearing a matter pertaining to air pollution highlighting the stubble burning issue in the States of Punjab and Haryana amidst the catastrophic increase in Delhi pollution.
The Supreme Court also directed Rajasthan and others to follow its earlier order on the issue relating to firecrackers during festive season.
SC directs Rajasthan to take steps to minimise air pollution, especially during the festival; remarks that it is everyone’s duty to manage pollution. Delhi govt, meanwhile, filed a fresh affidavit in the Supreme Court, apprising the top court of actions that have been taken to curb pollution.
