As the Western block nations is appalled at the bonhomie between the two nations and the two leaders

As the Western block nations is appalled at the bonhomie between the two nations and the two leaders, whats interesting is that PM Modi has confirmed another visit to Russia, this time for BRICS summit meeting.

The BRICS summit meeting will be held in Kazan city of Russia, which is the chair of the multilateral grouping for this year. It need be mentioned that India Russia have pledged to take the bilateral trade to USD 100 Billion by 2030. There is also increasing need felt by many non-Western countries to trade in their national currencies rather than US dollar, to de-politicize trade relations. BRICS has expanded and there are more nations willing to join the grouping with an intent to increase their trade and not remain dependent on whims and fancies of United States.

As PM Modi got elected to third term on the promise of making India as third largest economy of the world, it needs energy security, which has been coming from Russia since past many months. India would also need to diversify its trade basket as the Western nations are increasingly becoming unpredictable. There is domestic churn happening in many of these countries and there policies cannot be termed as stable in the medium to long term.

It is for this reason that trade and connectivity with Asian, African and South American countries is the need of the hour. BRICS serves this need of many countries including India.
