Air India Flight from Mumbai to New York Diverted to Delhi After Bomb Threat
An Air India flight from Mumbai to New York was diverted to Delhi on Monday due to a bomb threat, according to Delhi Police. The aircraft is currently stationed at Indira Gandhi International Airport, where all necessary safety protocols are being followed to ensure the well-being of passengers and crew.
This incident follows a similar event last month, when another Air India flight from Mumbai was forced to land at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport after a bomb threat was discovered in the form of a note in the washroom.
A spokesperson for Air India confirmed that Flight AI119, operating from Mumbai to JFK on October 14, received a specific security alert. Acting on instructions from the government's security regulatory committee, the flight was diverted to Delhi, where all 239 passengers safely disembarked and are now in the airport terminal.
The aircraft has been parked on an isolation runway at IGI Airport, where security agencies, including a bomb squad, are conducting thorough inspections. "Standard safety protocols are being diligently followed to ensure the safety of passengers and crew," a senior police official stated.
Investigations are ongoing, with authorities working closely with security personnel to determine the nature of the threat. Air India has yet to release further details, and passengers and crew are awaiting further instructions.
