Sabarmati Express

In the early hours of Saturday, at least 20 coaches of the Sabarmati Express derailed in Uttar Pradesh, near Kanpur railway station, while the train was en route to Jhansi. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, though the incident has caused significant disruption to the rail route.

The derailment occurred after the Sabarmati Express (Train number 19168), which operates between Varanasi Junction and Ahmedabad, struck a boulder on the tracks. Despite the derailment, no passengers were injured, as confirmed by local authorities. Emergency services, including fire trucks and ambulances, were quickly dispatched to the scene to ensure everyone's safety.

Railway officials are making arrangements for the passengers to continue their journey. Buses have been organized to transport them to another station, from where a special train will take them to their destination. Due to the derailment, several trains have been canceled or diverted.

The incident took place around 2:30 AM between Kanpur and Bhimsen stations. The loco pilot reported that the boulder had damaged the cattle guard at the front of the engine, leading to the derailment. Indian Railways has issued helpline numbers for affected passengers, and efforts are underway to restore normal operations.
