Ahead of second phase voting on Nov 17, a major allegation was leveled by senior political figure Brijmohan Agrawal, who is BJP candidate yet again from Raipur South assembly segment.
One of the seniormost politicians of Chhattisgarh, he leveled allegation that he and his supporters came under attack during the campaign in Baijnathpara area but also added that there was an attempt on his life at the time.
There are multiple local sources who say that Brijmohan Agrawal had reached Baijnathpara for campaign purposes but some people began opposing him which led to ruckus like situation. Soon the situation escalated to the extent that the security personnel with the seven times MLA pulled him so that he stays away from harms way.
Brijmohan Agrawal said that he was taken to a Madarsa to stay safe otherwise his life was surely under threat. Pointing fingers at the rival political party, he said that perhaps they dont quite want a peaceful election and thus such an attempt has been made.
Agrawal went on to allege that his supporters are being threatened with dire consequences if they continue to stand with a BJP candidate.
Meanwhile ruling Congress has dismissed such allegations and termed it a publicity stunt to garner sympathy as the it is the Congress candidate Mahant Ram Sundar Das who is striking a chord with the people of Raipur South.
