After Delhi, now basement flooding in Jaipur, leads to three fatalities
The heavy rainfall in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, has caused widespread devastation over the past several hours. Streets, the airport, railway stations, police stations, and hospitals are nearly all flooded. The situation in Jaipur mirrors a recent incident in Delhi, where heavy rain led to fatalities.
In Jaipur's Vishwakarma area, water flooded a basement, resulting in the deaths of three people. The authorities are currently working to drain the water from the basement.
This monsoon's first heavy rain in Jaipur has led to severe waterlogging everywhere. Similar to the incident in Delhi's Old Rajendra Nagar, where three students died due to water flooding the basement of a coaching center, the basement in Jaipur's Vishwakarma area also filled with rainwater, leading to three fatalities. The identities of the deceased are not yet known and will be confirmed once the water is completely drained from the basement.
In the Delhi incident, students were studying in the basement library of RAU's IAS coaching center when heavy rain caused significant waterlogging on the streets outside. Within 2-3 minutes, 10-12 feet of water flooded the basement, where around 35 students preparing for the civil services examination were present. Despite the efforts of the Delhi Fire Service and NDRF, three students could not be saved. Following this tragedy, all basement-running coaching centers in Delhi have been shut down, and students have been protesting. The Delhi government has announced plans to introduce new regulations for coaching centers.
