After communal unrest in Udaipur, state govt takes this big decision
In response to the violence that erupted in Udaipur, Rajasthan, on Friday, August 16, following a brawl between students at a government school, the Bhajan Lal Sharma government has taken a significant step. After the incident, State Education Minister Madan Dilawar announced a ban on bringing sharp objects and weapons to schools across the state.
On Saturday, Education Director Ashish Modi issued an order stating that students' bags will now be checked at schools. The order prohibits students from bringing any sharp objects like knives, scissors, or any pointed items to school. School heads have been instructed to periodically check students' bags, and a copy of the order is to be displayed on school notice boards. Additionally, students are to be informed about this ban during morning assemblies, and the issue should be discussed in parent-teacher meetings. Parents are also urged to check their children's bags regularly.
The violence was triggered when a 10th-grade student attacked another student with a knife, leading to communal unrest in the area. Following the incident, a crowd set cars on fire and engaged in stone-pelting. In response, internet services were suspended in Udaipur and surrounding areas.
Currently, with the prompt action of the administration and police, the situation in Udaipur is returning to normal. As of this morning, life in the city has resumed as usual, and traffic is moving smoothly on all roads. Senior officials, including the Divisional Commissioner, IG, Collector, and SP, are closely monitoring the situation.
