After Chile, France calls for UNSC reforms, names India for permanent seat
In yet another boost for India, the French President Emmanuel Macron has backed South Asian country's candidature for the United Nations Security Council permanent seat.
In a speech in the United Nations General Assembly, President Macron batted for reformed UNSC and named India, Brazil, Germany, Japan along with two from Africa for the permanent seat in UNSC.
It need be recalled that yesterday itself, Chile President Gabriel Boric had called for Brazil and India to be included in expanded and reformed United Nations Security Council by year 2025.
The sudden calls for reforms in the UNSC has stemmed from the fact that two conflicts are ongoing since past many months and the United Nations has proven to be ineffective in diminishing these wars.
