A Grand Walk for Tribal Pride: Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya Leads 'Mati Ke Veer Padyatra' in Chhattisgarh with Over 10,000 Volunteers
In celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas and Birsa Munda Jayanti, Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya led a special "Mati Ke Veer Padyatra" in Jashpur, Chhattisgarh, alongside Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on November 13, 2024. Over 10,000 youth volunteers from the My Bharat initiative participated in the 7-kilometer walk, honoring the invaluable contributions of the tribal communities to India’s heritage and national progress.
Celebrating Cultural Richness and Tribal Legacy
Organized under the Youth Program and Sports Ministry, the event aimed to promote India's cultural diversity and pay tribute to the legendary tribal leader, Birsa Munda. The padyatra, which started from Komdo village and concluded at Ranjit Stadium, included tribal leaders, community members, and youth volunteers. The opening ceremony featured tribal dances and performances symbolizing the heritage and contributions of tribal leaders to India’s independence movement.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s "One Tree for Mother" initiative inspired the padyatra's commencement with a tree-planting ceremony. Along the padyatra route, attendees enjoyed exhibitions showcasing tribal art, historical tribal movements, and the crafts of India’s tribal communities. Live workshops provided insights into tribal dance, music, literature, and cuisine, encouraging a deeper understanding of tribal heritage and its health benefits.
