70-year-old arrested, for molesting a minor girl, video goes viral
In a disturbing incident from Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur district, a 70-year-old shopkeeper was arrested on Wednesday after a video allegedly showing him sexually assaulting a minor girl went viral on social media, police reported. The incident occurred when a Dalit girl visited the shop of the accused, Mohammad Anwar Khan, on Tuesday. In the video, the elderly man is seen inappropriately touching the girl.
Following the incident, the girl's mother filed a police complaint, leading to the arrest of Khan. According to Additional SP Sitapur Prakash Kumar, the accused has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
