The second round of trilateral consultations between India, Iran, and Armenia was convened in New Delhi, focusing on connectivity initiatives, multilateral cooperation, and regional developments.

Key Areas of Discussion

Delegations from the three nations explored ways to enhance trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges while strengthening people-to-people ties. Discussions also emphasized the importance of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and the pivotal role of Iran’s Chabahar Port in facilitating connectivity across the region.

The Armenian delegation provided insights into its connectivity initiative, The Crossroads of Peace, highlighting its potential to complement regional infrastructure projects.

Leadership and Representation

The discussions were led by: India: JP Singh, Joint Secretary of the Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran Division. Iran: Hashem Ashja' Zadeh, Director General of the South Asia Division in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Armenia: Anahit Karapetyan, Head of the Asia-Pacific Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Commitment to Cooperation

The three sides reaffirmed their commitment to the trilateral framework and agreed to continue their collaboration in areas of shared interest. The consultations concluded with a consensus to hold the next round of discussions in Iran at a mutually convenient date.

This meeting follows the first round of trilateral consultations held in Yerevan, Armenia, in April 2023. The discussions underline the growing cooperation among the three nations, particularly in connectivity and trade, which are seen as vital for regional stability and economic integration.
