Women voters exceed male voters in Chhattisgarh, all PVTGs enrolled, what CEC said in opening remarks

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has noted that ”polls in the five states hold a unique significance as they serve as the final assembly elections before the grand stage of the National Elections in 2024. ECI will ensure free, fair and inducement free elections in these five states.

Addressing a presser to make public the poll schedule for the five states, he said that the Election Commission visited these states and held detailed review meetings with CEO, SPNO, District and State Administration & multiple centre and state Enforcement Agencies. He insisted that ECI has responded to almost all the state specific issues raised by the political parties.

As part of NoVotertobeLeftBehind campaign, ECI found out that 12 PVTGs are present in 4 states for which special enrollment camps and efforts were organized by field teams and cent percent enrollment of PVTGs in the states has been achieved.  

CEC Rajiv Kumar added that around 60 lakh first time voters(18-19 Yrs) will participate in elections of 5 states ~15.39 Lakh young voters are eligible to participate in elections due to amendment on qualifying dates. He highlighted that to inspire young voters, over 2900 polling stations will be managed by youth.

Women voters exceed male voters in Chhattisgarh and Mizoram and they are in parity in poll bound Telangana, he noted.

Among other interesting stats, he said that ‘there are 679 ACs in 5 states which is around 1/6th of total LACs in the country and have 16 cr electors which is almost 1/6th of total electors in the country’.

For the upcoming assembly elections in in 5 states, 1.77 lakh polling stations will be set up in 679 ACs. Over 1 lakh PS will have a webcasting facility. Average elector per polling station is well below ECI norms of 1500 electors per polling station in all five states.
