Balrampur police in Chhattisgarh has claimed to have arrested four of the people who may have been involved in the Raigarh Axis bank dacoity on Tuesday. They have also seized cache of gold and cash from a Jharkhand bound truck with Odisha number plate in Ramanujganj.
Police have also recovered a Creta car and is of the view that the four accused were trying to cross over to Jharkhand state. Police is yet to issue details formally but the reports suggest that the robbers dumped their Creta car and were trying to escape to neighbouring state in a truck.
Questions were raised on the law and order situation in poll bound Chhattisgarh when on Tuesday, bank robbers barged in to Dhimrapur chowk based Axis bank branch as it opened and took the whole staff hostage. They knifed the branch manager too and then fled with the currency notes.
The bank staffers soon alerted the police which brought in the seniormost police officers to inspect the bank branch for robbery clues.
