Cauvery Water Regulation Committee’s meeting to be held in New Delhi today. Karnataka has decided to convince the authorities that there is no water to release to Tamil Nadu.
The Congress ruled Karnataka is also pressing for the implementation of Mekedatu project describing it as the only solution for Cauvery water dispute between the two states.
Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah is blaming the BJP led central government for delaying the approval of Mekedatu balancing reservoir over river Cauvery.
The CM also blamed the neighbouring Tamil Nadu for causing unnecessary nuisance over the river water issue.
On the Cauvery water sharing issue, former CM & BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai says “The Karnataka govt has totally failed the farmers of Karnataka…It is a directionless government which is not able to protect the interests of the state in inter-state water disputes, farmers are in despair.”
