Suspense continues over when the ruling Congress would announce its first list of candidates in poll bound Chhattisgarh. The meeting of screening committee was held late on Friday night at the CM House but sources said that a consensus remains elusive.
It is learnt that Ajay Maken, the convener of the Chhattisgarh Congress Screening Committee, has taken off for Delhi. There are conflicting reports over when the first list of candidates might be released and under what formula. Besides CM Bhupesh Baghel, party incharge Kumari Selja, Deputy CM TS Singhdeo, PCC President Deepak Baij.
Sources speculated that Congress too could go ahead and announce its 22 candidates from the seats where rival party BJP has already announced. It is now known that Ajay Maken could present the list to the Central Election Committee, which is expected to take a final call.
Party sources said that all ruling party is likely to field all of its Ministers no matter what but it is the MLAs who are facing anti incumbency according to survey reports that is causing the most problems in finalizing the list.
