Is the opposition alliance in trouble after the outburst from DMK leaders Udaynidhi Stalin and A Raja who compared the Sanatan Dharma to the many illnesses and have not apologized as well.
While the BJP has found this opportunity to mount attack on the grand opposition alliance saying that it is inherently an anti Hindu alliance, Congress Parliamentarian and senior party leader Digvijay Singh broke his silence on the issue.
“Santana Dharma’ has been there from time immemorial. Earlier also there had been movements against the social malpractices in ‘Sanatana Dharma’. What was Arya Samaj? It was a movement against those malpractices. Then also anybody should think before commenting on any religion…”, he said to the inquiring media in Bhopal.
It need be mentioned that Congress, a leader of the grand opposition alliance, is to fight electoral contest in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and such outbursts against Sanatan Dharma has only given an opportunity to the saffron party to take on the whole of alliance as well.
Congress is in difficult situation because of DMK’s statements on Sanatan Dharma as it has tried to position itself as equally Hindu in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
While Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel projects himself as champion of cow and Ram Van Gaman Path, former CM Kamal Nath in Madhya Pradesh went as far as to concede that this is indeed a Hindu country considering they are in majority here.
