At a time when debate is on in the country about the government’s intent to rename India as Bharat in the upcoming special session of Parliament, West Bengal leader of Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, has gone ahead and promised to change more names when BJP comes to power in state.
While he was asked about his views on India likely to have Bharat as the only name, he responded by adding that whenever BJP makes it to the state government in West Bengal, the British and Mughal sounding names will be changed.
BJP is the principal opposition party in West Bengal while Congress and the Communists were in alliance in the last assembly election and have been reduced to being irrelevant now.
