With election season on, even festivals have turned into battlegrounds or so it seems. In Delhi to celeberate Hindu festival of Janmashtami, the Union Minister Smriti Irani told the devotees present that our voices must reach those people who challenged ‘Sanatan Dharma’.

”Till devotees are alive, no one can challenge our ‘dharma’ and faith…”, she said during Janmashtami Mahotsav in Dwarka.

This comes as DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Minister Udaynidhi Stalin, few days back, called for eradication of Sanatan Dharma and compared it to pandemic or disease. The entire saffron party is up in arms since then and is not letting go of the issue.

Even Prime Minister Modi is known to have stressed on the need for ‘proper response’. This he said after Udaynidhi Stalin refused to apologize for his utterances on the Sanatan Dharma. Since DMK is part of larger opposition alliance against the BJP, the other parties too are feeling the pressure and have stated their opinions with varying degree of dissent.
