To help prevent the devotees from attack of wild animals and especially leopards, the Tirumala Tirupati Devsthanams (TTD) is now handing out sticks to the devotees walking all the way to Tirumala hill town via Alipiri footpath.

It is learnt that the TTD administration has procured thousands of sticks to hand out to devotees so that they can scare away wild animals and stay safe. TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakar, along with other officials, began the handing over of the sticks to the devotees as they began the footmarch to the temple.

The Chairman clarified about the observation that wild animals usually dont attack when they spot humans with sticks and this is the reason for this initiative.

He also said that this is not the only measure taken in by the administration as security guards have been positioned at strategic points to be able to intervene when needed. The devotees are also being encouraged to move about in groups to be able to defend themselves against wild animal attack.
