Chhattisgarh Congress leader TS Singhdeo, also Deputy CM of Chhattisgarh, has revealed during a TV interview that party has received 2790 applications for assembly tickets and the state level election committee is making all out efforts to ensure that single names are passed onto the AICC headquarters for approval.

He said that only four constituencies out of 90 have single name candidates. This implies that there are too many stakeholders for Congress ticket in poll bound Chhattisgarh and the leaders here are struggling to make final list.

Singhdeo said that Congress high command prefers that single names are sent to it for final approval as much as possible.

Political analysts are of the view that among the four assembly constituencies where single names might be in the fray includes Patan (CM Bhupesh Baghel’s assembly seat) and Ambikapur (DCM TS Singhdeo’s assembly seat).

Political analysts also say that while opposition BJP is now about to release its second list of candidates, ruling Congress fears rebellion if party makes official its candidate way too soon and many other heavyweights seeking party ticket might switch to other party if they sense greener pastures.
